Masterclass 2: The Development Path of a Top Talent

Speaker: Marcin Skowronek (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
The second session, led by Marcin Skowronek of Borussia Mönchengladbach, will present an in-depth case study of Tiago Pereira Cardoso (#42). The training will cover his entire journey – from scouting at U14 level, through systematic development across youth categories, to his Bundesliga debut. Participants will explore the key milestones, challenges, and strategies that shaped his progression. Marcin will also discuss the current priorities in Tiago’s professional training and how responsibilities are shared within the coaching staff. This session provides a detailed blueprint of how to guide a young goalkeeper through the transition into elite senior football.
Masterclass 3: Goalkeeping at the Highest Level

Speaker: John Achterberg (Liverpool FC)
The third training will be conducted by John Achterberg, long-time goalkeeper coach of Liverpool FC. since the summer at Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. This session offers a deep dive into the athletic and mental requirements for developing and managing world-class goalkeepers, such as Alisson Becker. Participants will learn how to achieve and sustain peak performance from the Premier League to Champions League finals. John will also explain the structure of Liverpool’s goalkeeper unit (three coaches, six goalkeepers), how to handle players out on loan, and how to balance training and recovery in a schedule filled with matches and travel. A rare behind-the-scenes look at elite-level goalkeeping.
Masterclass 4: Perfecting Goalkeeping Technique with Germany’s No. 1

The fourth session, led by Marjan Petković from TSG Hoffenheim, will focus on mastering the fundamental techniques of goalkeeping, illustrated through the example of Oliver Baumann – Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper in the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup. Using match and training footage, Marjan will break down Baumann’s exceptional technical skills, tactical awareness, and game intelligence. Participants will gain insights into the micro-details that distinguish a very good goalkeeper from a truly elite one. Masterclass 5: The Goalkeeper’s Perspective

The final session will be delivered by Asmir Begović, a goalkeeper with over 250 Premier League appearances and a career spanning clubs such as Chelsea FC, AC Milan, and Leicester City. This unique masterclass shifts the focus to the player’s point of view. Asmir will share his personal journey, the coaches who influenced him most, and the methods he believes in. Participants will hear what an elite goalkeeper values in training and in the coach-athlete relationship at different career stages.
