The webinar conducted by Jyri Nieminen, coach of Feyenoord Rotterdam and the Finnish national team, is a unique opportunity to discover a modern approach to working with goalkeepers.

The central theme of the session will be the ecological dynamic approach, which in recent years has gained particular importance in the professional football environment. Step by step, Jyri will present the process of creating a coherent goalkeeper philosophy – from defining key principles, through setting defensive objectives, to translating them into practical training solutions.

Participants will learn how to design training sessions that develop positioning, anticipation, and decision-making in contexts closely resembling real match situations. An important element will also be showing how game analysis can serve as a starting point for selecting specific training methods, effectively combining theory with practice.

The training is intended for coaches who want to consciously build their own methodology for working with goalkeepers, expand their coaching toolkit, and acquire tools to improve the quality of the training process at every level of advancement.

Jyri Nieminen is a renowned Finnish goalkeeper coach with extensive international experience. He began his coaching career in his home country, working with clubs such as FC Honka and TPS Turku. He then joined the staff of Estonia’s youth national teams, where he was responsible for goalkeeper training and also served as a coordinator.

In 2015, he moved to Aspire Academy in Qatar, combining his duties there with work for the country’s youth national teams. The following years took him to the United States, where he worked with the San Jose Earthquakes and New York Red Bulls, as well as to South Africa with Orlando Pirates.

Since July 2023, he has been the first-team goalkeeper coach at Feyenoord Rotterdam. In April 2025, he additionally took on the role of goalkeeper coach for the Finland national team.

Through his work across different cultures and leagues, he has gained broad knowledge and experience that directly contribute to the development of players at the highest level.
